Waves

Today they seem angry

Yesterday when I looked out

It seemed as if it could be a lake

Except for the crashing near the shore

Today they foam at the mouth

Leaving bubbly traces in the sand

Scars of receding fights

Today one surges after another

Roaring constantly

Without pause

Today as I stand at their feet

In an apparent safe distance

I am mauled to the ground

Today they soak me when I didn’t intend to

Their fierceness couldn’t be kept at bay

The harsh cold piercing into my bones

Yes, today they are angry
